Home technologies come in various shapes and forms, and we try to keep you updated with some of the most innovative products for your home. Whether you’re planning a renovation, upgrading a gadget, or just shopping for something new and different, you’ll find something here for you. The Trinsic from Delta is a touch-sensitive faucet that’s high-tech enough to feel like a gadget, but also a practical home improvement if you’ve got an old faucet moldering away on your kitchen sink.
The Trinsic faucet (9159T-DST) is totally contemporary and has plenty of bells and whistles. It is a high-arc, one-handled deck-mounted faucet featuring a dual-mode pull-down spray wand. All of the high-tech magic is hidden away under your sink – a solenoid assembly that uses ordinary batteries and some wires. These components all fit together using a quick-connect installation system, and everything you need is included in your purchase.

Up above sink level, the Touch20 technology allows you to preset your water volume and temperature and leave it that way unless you need particularly cold water to drink or hot water to wash dishes. The Touch20 technology also shuts off the faucet automatically if it detects no activity after 4 minutes, preventing you from wasting water. In fact, this faucet complies with CalGreen’s water efficiency standards with a top flow rate of 1.8 GPM (gallons per minute) rather than 2.2 GPM, which is the usual industry standard.
The pull-down spray wand features Magnatite docking, TouchClean nubbins and two different spray modes: a strong spray or an aerated stream. A simple press of a button switches between these modes. Many Delta faucets, including the Trinsic, have soft rubber nubbins where the water passes through. After you’ve been using the faucet for a while, the nubbins start to get crusted over with mineral deposits. To clean them you just rub the deposits away with a fingertip. The Magnatite docking system anchors the spray wand into place using a strong magnet when you’re not using it. When you do want to use the spray feature, just tug gently and it comes out easily. All of these design features are great.
It remains to be seen how well this model will stand the test of time. This is always a concern with high-tech gadgets. Stay tuned and we’ll get back to you with another review in the future.
