With elegant lines and a high-tech rubberized surface to repel mineral buildup, this touch sensitive kitchen faucet from Delta can be activated by a light touch on any part of the spout or handle. The 9192T-SSSD-DST also features a pull-down spray, a stainless steel finish and several of the patented technologies you’ve come to expect from Delta. It uses MagnaTite to dock the spray wand in position when you’re not using it, Diamond Seal to prevent leaking and dripping even with years of heavy use, an inner lining to keep water from contacting contaminants and a one-handled design. All this, and it also has a great contemporary style, and it’s among the most affordable touch sensitive kitchen faucets on the market!
Pros:
- Spout has wide range of swivel
- Dual mode pull-down spray
- Touch-sensitive operation
- Great styling
- Good 5 year warranty, and works well overall
Cons:
- Touch sensitivity is both good and bad
- Counterweight to the spray head deteriorates over time
- Electronics need replacing every year
Function: 4 stars (out of 5)
As of yet, I’ve never seen a faucet in this price range that does as many things (and does them well) as this faucet. It’s easy to figure out how to operate the faucet by touch, and it really does make kitchen tasks easier. The smudge-resistant stainless steel finish is a breeze to keep clean. The sprayer works in both spray and stream modes. Also the large swivel range is big enough for a triple sink, and the high arc of the spout means you can use it in a shallow sink. My biggest issue with function is that the touch sensitivity can be annoying sometimes. Trying to wash the dishes when the tiniest touch can activate the faucet is a bit of a pain. Also, the electronics deteriorates quickly and the touch sensitivity stops working after a while.
Style: 5 stars
Of all the touch faucets I’ve seen, I like the styling of this one the best. The glossy but not excessively shiny stainless finish, the high arc of the spout, and the matching soap dispenser have a contemporary and modern vibe. I feel that this faucet will look great in any kitchen, whether you have wooden finishes, granite countertops or a more rustic décor. Even just the spray wand looks as good as the rest of the faucet.
Durability: 3 stars
This is why this faucet never gets 5-star ratings either here or elsewhere on the Internet. My first impression of this model was that it was built to last well over 5 years. However, after a while I started noticing that the counterweight that secures the spray head underneath the sink wasn’t moving as smoothly as it should as the steel ball’s plastic coating deteriorated. And then the electrical components started to lose sensitivity after just a few months. By month 10 the electronics needed to be replaced altogether. The good news is that replacing the electrical system made the faucet work like new again. And the warranty definitely helped.
Extras: 5 stars
At 15.42 inches tall, the spout gives a great reach and is the model’s best feature. Of course you’ll love the touch sensitivity, but I also really appreciate the wide swiveling capability of the spout. Most faucets can manage 120 degrees or so, but this one swivels through a complete 180 degrees. The Diamond Seal valves give you peace of mind as they last for your lifetime and keep your water clear of contaminants.
Repair and Warranty: 4 stars
Delta has a solid reputation for its customer service. The big drawback about this model is that, unlike most Delta faucets that come with a lifetime warranty, this one is only covered for 5 years. I think this is due to the electrical issues and the fact that the counterweight needs frequent attention. But if you do have issues, Delta is gracious about replacing parts within the warranty period.
Rating Overall: 4.1 stars
The 9192T-SSSD-DST definitely gives you the whole package. It performs most of its functions extremely well, and the others at least acceptably well. It does require yearly maintenance and repairs, yet it also incorporates some of the most up-to-date technologies and design elements. If you love to spend time cooking in your kitchen, this faucet may be for you. The touch sensitivity is a great feature for a dedicated home chef. Even though I’m still buying faucets to review, I love this one and I may keep it for my main kitchen faucet in the end.
